Meet Clare

We love connecting with female entrepreneurs and local business owners to see what they’re up to, so we’re so excited to introduce you guys to @clarekuiper . Clare is the amazing soul behind the food @her.harvest , an organic vegetable business, plant-based restaurant, farm shop and collaborative space, and the founder of Her Healing – her practice where she offers healing and empowerment sessions, meditations and classes. We wanted to know what Clare does outside of @her.harvest , how she came up with such an amazing concept, and what is next for her. We asked her some questions about her beauty must have and daily routine, and we can’t wait to share what she told us:
Tell us a little bit about you and what you do.
My name is Clare Kuiper (well now Clare Rose) and I help people reconnect to their passion and joy through the spaces I create and tools that I share. What this looks like at the moment is Her Harvest – an organic vegetable business, plant-based restaurant, farm shop and collaborative space, and Her Healing – my healing practice where I offer healing and empowerment sessions, meditations and classes. Why I do what I do is that I struggled with extreme physical, mental and emotional fatigue and illness for more than 15 years and through the work that I now share (after exploring MANY different routes) I have been able to heal myself and reconnect to my joy and passion. I’ve always had a deep compassion for all beings and the earth, so it’s hugely fulfilling for me to serve others with the experiences and tools that have helped me come alive again.
What instilled your passion and commitment to supporting wellness and environmental sustainability initiatives at Rosenhoff Farm?
I studied a BSc in Conservation Ecology and then did my MPhil in Sustainable Development and quickly realised that unless we change the human condition, we’re not going to be able to ‘solve’ the environmental challenges we face. I also know from my own mental, emotional and physical challenges that it first takes self-healing before we can share our gifts with the world. I have the tendency to be a dreamer and so starting with growing organic vegetables was a very earthy, grounding and practical way to begin sharing my passion of the earth and human wellness with others! And things have grown from there…

What was the inspiration behind Her Harvest?
I’m assuming you mean the restaurant/plant-based products side of Her Harvest? Well honestly the seed was very self-focused in that I wanted to surround myself with things that nourish me and high vibrational plant-based eating is one of my foundational pillars. So there’s the inspiration behind Her Harvest and that naturally grew into sharing this with others – to inspire and give people the opportunity to come to the farm and experience plant-based nourishment! It’s a great way for me to share healing energy with others!
What do you find is the hardest challenge balancing your work and personal life?
Balance is my greatest challenge! And owning your own business blurs the line between work and personal life, especially when your work is your passion. My greatest challenge with balance is that I’m always bursting with new ideas and inspiration, and am not great at discerning when to put the brakes on so I end up doing it all and inevitably burning the candle at both ends. So managing my fire and desires is my greatest challenge when it comes to balance…and life!

What is your self-care philosophy? What do you do to keep sane? What products do you enlist to help?
For me self-care should be foundational to our lives so that we can thrive in all that we do. For me this is making sure that I continually receive healings, spend time in nature, exercising, getting enough sleep, a daily meditation practice, dancing!, spending time with friends and those I love who lift me up, and eating food that nourishes me. This is not to say I’m on top of these all the time and that I always give room for self-care, but I continually strive to strengthen my foundation!
Take us through an average day in the life, the first thing you do in the morning through to the last thing you do at night.
An average day when I’m home…Wake up 5,30. Meditate & journal – if I don’t do this first thing in the morning there’s a good chance that it won’t happen. Rituals, which clean and protect my energy, and reconnect me to myself and to higher consciousness. Shower Get out onto the farm – a great way for me to ground! Get to work (which could be seeing a healing client, planning a class, planning our planting schedule, researching or Her Harvest related events).
Lunch – I love the down time of a lunch-break After work we love going for a walk in the mountains or on the farm Either relax with tea, read, do creative things or (more often than I like) catch-up on work Salt bath or shower and bed by latest 11pm.

What does your perfect day look like?
Mmm difficult one to answer as there are some days that all I want to do is spend the day with my nose in a book or researching, and other days where I want to be in the mountain and waterfalls! I love learning so I love classes that stimulate and challenge me (which are generally metaphysical teachings). Exploring beautiful places and spaces! So many ideal days – dependent on what I’m needing!
Where are your three favorite destinations to travel to? Do you have any trips planned?
I love the African bush. North-west Namibia is one of the most beautifully remote and vast places I’ve been to. Other African gems have been Gonorazhou in Zimbabwe which is still wild and incredibly beautiful, and we’ve recently been to Uganda which is such a warm, open-hearted country brimming with potential! I’ll always have a soft spot for the richness of India and the Himalayas on both the Indian and Nepalese sides. And then I love the European ski slopes! Nothing planned as yet, but Slovenia and the Nordic countries are calling…

What’s your day on a plate?
Again this is very dependent on the weather, my mood and what my body is calling for.
Breakfast – from handfuls of fruit (which is often what my body is
asking for) to warm nurturing porridges. This morning I had a quinoa porridge with berries, banana, mesquite, chia seeds and tahini – so grounding and soothing which is just what I needed this morning.
Lunch – lately it’s been one of our beautiful sourdough breads (millet and sorghum, Danish rye, or buckwheat and rosemary) with avo, krauts and sprouts, or soup. Simple yet so delicious and addictive!
Dinner – mmm dahl, curries, Her Harvest sourdough pasta with lots of veggies. To be honest I’m quite a lazy cook so often it’s from our amazing kitchen topped up with lots of fresh veggies!
Snacks/shakes/supplements – Fruit if anything! And I have a chocolate addiction! Proper good quality dark cacao so if I’m having a low energy day that’s where you’ll find my fingers! Supplements – I’m either taking it all or taking nothing at all…yes balance. My go to is Green Vibrance as it covers all the bases – probiotics, prebiotics, immune, circulatory and nerve support. And I do need to supplement with Iron
every once in awhile, which has become less and less as I’ve healed my energy body.
I just love our golden curry and with sweet potato, cauliflower/aubergine and chard. So creamy and nourishing! Packed with fresh turmeric that we grow and served with a lime leaf salsa, cumin
rice, cashew curd and a sourdough flatbread.
What is your philosophy when it comes to food?
As within, so without. What you put in your body is foundational to how you feel. Simple plant based, wholefoods, nutritionally grown, high energy foods. Don’t restrict or be rigid! Eat with gratitude.

What does health beauty and fitness mean to you?
Ah again this is all about balance…finding YOUR middle pillar. Connecting with the true you…what makes you unique…what fans your fire, and how you share this with others. And when you connect to this your beauty will shine both from within and without. Beauty is within us all – reclaiming this is each of our responsibility and how this looks in terms of health and fitness will be unique to every individual. And remembering that there are seasons for everything…

Must have beauty products?
Sleep. Water. Artemis immortelle serum. Skoon glow drops. And la mer everything…
Biggest vice(s)?
Comparison. Acting on all my desires / too fiery! Being hard on myself.
Something you can’t live without?
Sleep. Connecting with my heart daily. Love.

What is next for you?
I’m making more space to grow my healing practice @clarekuiper (Her Healing) so that I have more time to work one-on-one with clients and offer classes. I went to Toronto in November to do Guide training so I can now hold a two day class and initiation called Empower Thyself, which gives you the knowledge and tools to build a strong spiritual foundation. I’m really honoured to be able to share these teachings and tools with others as they have shifted my life so profoundly! So follow along @clarekuiper (IG).
